Sources and caveats
- Alberta and Saskatchewan: Petrinex public data. British Columbia: BC Energy Regulator public data.
- Oil here is the regulator's oil product, so Alberta oil includes bitumen. Provinces report in slightly different ways, so compare trends more than exact levels.
- Regulators revise past months, so a later copy can differ slightly from an earlier one. The file is rebuilt every month.
- Totals only, no individual wells. Informational, not legal, engineering or investment advice, and provided as is.
How we check this
Every time the site is rebuilt, a script recomputes the figures from this file and compares them with what the pages say. Last run: 800 figures across 33 monthly snapshot pages and the home page, 0 mismatches. The file has 342 rows (6 series, 2022-01 to 2026-09), with no missing months, duplicates or negative volumes.
File fingerprint (SHA-256): 94193a121eff937329b691e179f73bd2d545478244e76e3d95796f754ce60bfb · manifest.json · the checking script. This confirms the pages match the data file. It does not prove the regulator files themselves are right, which is why the caveats above matter.
